About The Position

The Overlay Assembler is responsible for building and assembling custom residential and commercial garage doors according to blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to safely use hand and power tools to complete high-quality assemblies.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, carpentry, construction, or a related production environment.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, drawings, and specifications.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and mechanical assembly equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

Build and assemble custom garage door components using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and other production equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate assembly and product configuration.
Measure, cut, fit, drill, and fasten materials according to design requirements and production standards.
Install hardware, overlays, trim, and other door components as required.
Complete assemblies efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards and production targets.
Assist with final inspections to verify assemblies meet quality requirements before shipment.
Gather, stage, and organize materials needed for daily production activities.
Verify materials and components match work order specifications prior to assembly.
Report material shortages, damaged components, or discrepancies to supervision.
Maintain organized workstations and properly store materials, tools, and equipment.
Support production flow by assisting with movement of materials and finished products as needed.
Maintain a strong commitment to quality by ensuring all assemblies meet engineering specifications, company standards, and customer expectations.
Perform visual and dimensional checks throughout the assembly process to identify defects or inconsistencies.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic equipment, and material-handling devices.
Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe work practices at all times.
Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or quality concerns promptly.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following housekeeping and 5S standards.
Participate in training and cross-training opportunities to increase skills and versatility within the department.
Contribute ideas for improving productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, engineering, quality, and other departments.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
