About The Position

Austin Powder is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for transporting products and materials safely and efficiently while providing exceptional service to our customers. This position requires overnight travel throughout the workweek. Drivers are typically dispatched on Sunday and remain on the road, completing regional routes and deliveries across their assigned territory. Drivers generally return home Friday evening, with weekends typically spent at home. Must be comfortable with multiple consecutive nights away from home and extended time on the road during the week.

Requirements

  • 21+ years of age as required by DOT.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of driving experience or have completed a CDL training class.
  • Must be able to acquire an ATF license to possess explosives.
  • Must meet requirements of all State & Federal explosive laws.
  • Must possess a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the following: Class A – any combination over 26,001 pounds.
  • Hazardous Material endorsement.
  • X-Combination of Tank and Hazardous Material endorsement.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to identify products by sight.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, and sit.
  • Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to operate controls, and able to repetitively lift or carry 50Ibs.

Responsibilities

  • Drives and/or operates truck for delivery across United States.
  • Loads/unloads tankers into storage bin at customer using onboard pump.
  • Completes pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and reports maintenance requirements to management.
  • Reports directly to the Transportation Dispatcher.
  • Develops and maintains positive work relationship with co-workers, customers, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Displays work behavior that are honest and ethical in pursuit of APC business goals.
  • Complies with APC inventory management procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by assuring regulatory compliance at the location, customer sites, and during transit.
  • Completes and maintains accurate, legible paperwork as required by company policies and procedures, Department of Transportation, and by other federal and state agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
