About The Position

This is a field-based sales position serving the Jackson/Battle Creek territory. The role involves developing new business opportunities, building long-term relationships with local businesses and municipalities, and contributing to company growth and customer retention. It offers autonomy and flexibility within an established sales territory with significant growth potential. The company is a stable, family-owned business with over 60 years of success.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of outside sales experience with a proven track record of achieving sales goals.
  • Strong prospecting and new business development skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and establish trust with customers.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated with strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout the territory.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, cold call and develop new business opportunities throughout the Jackson/Battle Creek territory.
  • Meet with business owners, property managers, municipal leaders and other decision-makers.
  • Present customized waste and recycling solutions based on customer needs.
  • Negotiate service agreements and close new business opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing customer accounts.
  • Resolve customer concerns and coordinate solutions with internal teams.
  • Manage sales activity, prospecting efforts and pipeline development across the territory.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity and emerging opportunities.
  • Participate in networking events, trade organizations and community activities.
  • Maintain consistent contact with prospects and customers to drive retention and growth.
  • Partner with operations, safety and customer service teams to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Coordinate service implementation and transitions for new customers.
  • Support customer retention efforts and service issue resolution.
  • Ensure proposed services align with operational capabilities and company policies.
