Requirements

  • Strong understanding of negotiation tactics
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult customers with diplomacy and tact
  • Proven ability to prospect, cold call, and win new business in complex sales cycles
  • Technical knowledge of specialty plate products including Ballistic Armor (commercial and military) and Abrasion Resistant plate
  • Experience in North American specialty plate markets including defense OEMs, fabrication, and heavy equipment sectors
  • Understanding of heat-treated steel processes and performance characteristics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Minimum 2+ years of sales experience in metals or industrial markets

Responsibilities

  • Drive new business development across Abrasion Resistant (AR), Defense, and Ballistic plate markets by prospecting, qualifying, and converting opportunities into long-term customers
  • Expand and retain existing accounts through deep understanding of customer applications, cross-selling, and relationship development
  • Lead customer engagement including business reviews, technical discussions, and executive-level meetings while providing internal reporting via call reports
  • Develop expertise across all product lines, supporting an 80% plate / 20% long product sales mix
  • Represent the company through customer visits, plant tours, and industry conferences to identify trends and growth opportunities (up to 50% travel)
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure execution excellence and continuous improvement in customer experience
  • Manage issue resolution by balancing customer expectations with operational and financial objectives
  • Maximize profitability through disciplined pricing, negotiation, and market knowledge while growing gross margin
  • Balance inventory, mill constraints, and operational capacity while meeting customer expectations
  • Maintain a disciplined sales pipeline including prospect lists, quote logs, and conversion tracking
