About The Position

This role involves selling, building, and maintaining a customer and sales base within a specified territory. The representative will contact and visit customers to build and maintain relationships through various communication channels, generate sales leads, provide quotes, and follow up on opportunities. The position requires understanding customer needs, introducing new products, resolving customer complaints, and staying updated on industry trends. Additionally, the role involves administrative tasks such as maintaining calendars, preparing reports, and managing expenses. The representative may also cover customer service duties when needed and attend sales meetings.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR one to two years of related sales or customer service experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to customer or supplier sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Contact and visit customers to build and maintain relationships by email, phone, fax, letter, and personal visits.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads.
  • Generate written quotes and follow up until the order is placed, lost, or the opportunity is closed.
  • Determine existing customer needs and satisfaction, and build relationships.
  • Introduce new products to clients and prospects, emphasizing salable features.
  • Quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders.
  • Communicate with the warehouse regarding estimated delivery dates.
  • Gather current marketplace information on pricing, products, and merchandising techniques.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through professional publications, workshops, and networking.
  • Attend sales meetings as required.
  • Maintain open communication with the Sales Manager regarding whereabouts for scheduling.
  • Maintain Outlook calendar, prepare weekly call reports, and keep vehicle/maintenance logs and expense accounts.
  • Cover customer service duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sales Manager.
