About The Position

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for engaging customers within commercial and industrial sectors, including mechanical/plumbing contractors, plants, universities, and more. Your role will involve educating and supporting customers to leverage Porter Pipe & Supply's offerings and enhancing their profitability across construction projects. The Outside Sales Representative provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

  • Previous experience in “Pipe Valve Fitting” sales or a similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers in the commercial and industrial markets.
  • Foster customer account engagement and relationship through collaborative outside sale initiatives.
  • Facilitate strategic vendor/rep partnerships to identify potential customers and drive sales growth.
  • Analyze regional market dynamics to uncover new growth opportunities.
  • Propose innovative products/services and sales strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales.
  • Resolve customer issues and service challenges promptly.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments through professional publications, societies, and networking.
  • Monitor economic indicators, market trends, and competitor activities to adapt sales approaches and maintain market share.
  • Provide support and participate in relevant industry associations.
  • Document customer interactions and maintain accurate records of activities, accounts, and partnerships.
  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends, with the potential for one to two overnight stays per week.
  • Provide weekly itineraries, sales forecasts, and reports.
  • Plan work weeks in advance and engage in social engineering activities one to two times per week.
  • Utilize our Superbowl selling program and CRM system for effective organization and sales optimization.
  • Adhere to all company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
