As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will cultivate relationships, develop new business, and provide innovative solutions to our customers, helping them to achieve their goals and, in return, yours! This position will reside in: Raleigh, NC.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • 1 year of prior sales, business, or food service experience
  • Maintaining a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Ability to obtain your food safety certification
  • Customer focus with comprehensive communication skills and the ability to express self verbally.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative, and creative in order to build relationships, network, link resources and apply business practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and display integrity and honesty to participate and contribute to region team efforts.
  • Must be goal driven, have good organizational and administration skills in order to self manage and develop discipline and be flexible and coachable.
  • Must be able to meet and exceed sales performance goals and execute good time and territory management.
  • Must participate in Industry Organizations.
  • Must complete GFS’ Phase Training Objective.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships, develop new business, and provide innovative solutions to customers.
  • Responsible for the overall sales and relationship management efforts for existing and prospective customers within your assigned territory.
  • Pursuing new customers by researching industry and market trends, identifying and researching prospective customers, developing sales strategies, and presenting sales strategies.
  • Deepen and strengthen existing customer relationships by visiting customers regularly, conducting business reviews, providing ongoing training on product offerings, and identifying opportunities for Gordon Food Service to add value.
  • Sales territory management, balancing new customer acquisition with deepening existing customer relationships.
  • Coordinating visits to prospective and existing customers.
  • Communicating order status and order processing updates to customers.
  • Provides assistance throughout the region supporting the facilitation of order and delivery interaction between foodservice customers and Gordon Food Service in all aspects of the sales function until territory assignment.
  • Assists the Customer Development Specialist (CDS) with providing business-consulting services to strengthen customer relationships and grow profitable sales.
  • Effectively expresses and services the GFS story.
  • Travels through route to provide coverage for all Customer Development Specialists (CDS) as appropriate.
  • Services existing accounts as assigned.
  • Gains understanding of broker relationships to assist in key customer assignments.
  • Assists with the delivery of appropriate marketing materials.
  • Assists and participates in customer events and segment shows.
  • Assists with the demonstration of products and discussion of applications.
  • Gains expertise in the area of sales consultation to ensure sales process development.
  • Verifies orders with customers including receiving information, discussing orders and credits with customers.
  • Observes management of accounts receivables.
  • Participates with CDS on business reviews, negotiating, understanding and use of market research.
  • Participates and contributes to region team efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
