Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid North Carolina Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
Proven success in outside sales, preferably within the lumber, building materials, construction, or related industries.
Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals.
Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic.
Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through skills.
Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory.
Ability to visit active construction sites and customer locations.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry product samples and materials.
Ability to work in office, warehouse, and outdoor jobsite environments.

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
Ability to read and understand residential and commercial construction plans and specifications preferred.
Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other business technology tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, permit tracking, and market research.
Develop and grow relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and other construction professionals.
Promote and sell lumber, building materials, and related products to achieve sales and profitability goals.
Deliver professional product presentations and recommend solutions that help customers improve project outcomes.
Create accurate quotations, bids, and proposals that win business and grow market share.
Negotiate and close sales opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
Build long-term partnerships through responsive communication and exceptional service.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Resolve customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, credits, returns, and product issues in a timely and professional manner.
Act as a trusted advisor by educating customers on new products, technologies, and industry trends.
Review blueprints and understand construction project phases to identify sales opportunities and recommend appropriate products.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of building materials, construction practices, and available product solutions.
