About The Position

Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company established in 1953, is a leading supplier of quality supplies for various industries, aiming to simplify complex projects for their customers. With approximately 36,000 associates across 1,700 locations, Ferguson is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative-Facilities Supply for the Madison, Wisconsin market. This role focuses on managing and growing an existing customer portfolio in MultiFamily, Hospitality, Senior Living, or Education Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) and Renovations, while also actively developing new business. The position requires a consultative and data-driven approach, with a strong understanding of MRO solutions and the ability to build trusted relationships with property management personnel. The role is field-based, involving significant face-to-face customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of outside sales experience within the Multifamily and/or Hospitality, Education verticals, ideally in the MRO, distribution, or vendor space.
  • Proven success working with Property Managers, Regional Managers, Facility/Maintenance Supervisors, and Maintenance Technicians.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, analytics, and CRM tools to drive sales growth and manage pipeline performance.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with a track record of growing existing accounts and winning new business.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a field-based role.
  • Strong problem-solving, active listening, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong overall digital literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow relationships with an assigned base of customers and key vendor partners.
  • Increase share of wallet by identifying customer needs and delivering tailored MRO solutions to active, new, and inactive accounts.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnering with management to develop and execute territory and account strategies.
  • Create and execute territory and account plans aligned with sales objectives, leveraging data, CRM insights, and competitive analysis.
  • Maintain a healthy, accurate sales pipeline that balances customer satisfaction with profitable growth.
  • Monitor competitive activity and communicate market insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge and sales skills to maintain a professional, credible presence in the field.
