Looking to build your career? Want to join a growing and established company? We’re hiring for a Sales Professional to join our Minneapolis/St Paul team! Lumbermen’s is a leading distributor of building materials and we’ve been in business for 70 years. We opened a new location in Cottage Grove, and we want you to help build and maintain customer relationships while promoting our line of exceptional products. Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan since 1955, Lumbermen’s operates in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Minnesota. The Outside Sales Professional is responsible for educating and supporting customers on our full line of building material products. This position will include some after-hours activities such as events and occasional overnight travel.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • The ability to market, sell, and educate customers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to provide persuasive presentations to target customer needs and successfully overcome obstacles and challenges.
  • An inquisitive nature with strong active listening and analytical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
  • Two to four years industry-specific outside sales experience in lieu of education requirement.
  • Building materials industry experience strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Building and Fostering Relationships – Establishing and developing strong relationships with customers through regular in-person visits, training, events, and remote support.
  • Drive Sales – Actively selling from our products lines.
  • Strategic Partner – Providing exceptional service and support to anticipate and deliver on customer needs and provide timely problem resolution.
  • Analysis – Performing analysis of competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to gain an understanding of why customers purchase from our competitors.
  • Teamwork – Achieving results and working together on a high performing team.
  • Partnerships – Working with vendors to achieve mutually beneficial goals and cultivate great relationships.
