About The Position

Outside Sales Executive – Managed IT Services In 1986, Robert L. Nelson founded the information systems consulting firm of R.L. Nelson and Associates, Inc. (RLN) to serve businesses in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. RLN grew steadily over the years, delivering quality services to multinational Fortune 500 companies and many other privately and publicly held businesses throughout the eastern United States. In 2007, RLN joined forces with Vertical Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based IT services firm, to create Vertilocity – an R.L. Nelson and Associates Company. Overview of position: The Outside Sales Executive will build the sales pipeline, close new business, and increase revenue for the company’s managed IT services, cybersecurity solutions, cloud services, and professional services offerings. This person will be an aggressive hunter and strategic consultative seller focused on mid-market and enterprise accounts. This role requires strong relationship development, technical understanding of managed IT services, and proven success in quota-carrying sales.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of outside or enterprise sales experience in technology, managed services, cybersecurity, or cloud.
  • Proven track record of selling recurring revenue services.
  • Comfortable selling to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organization, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in CRM pipeline management.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with various departments.

  • Previous sales training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue & Pipeline Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities within a defined sales territory.
  • Achieve/exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Build a robust pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, events, and referrals.
  • Conduct discovery meetings and solution presentations.
  • Manage full sales cycle: from lead qualification to proposal, negotiation, and closure.
  • Cultivate C-level and decision-maker relationships.
  • Strategic Selling Position MSP services (MSSP, cloud, backup/DR, compliance, professional IT services) in alignment with client needs.
  • Drive consultative selling and solution design.
  • Collaborate with pre-sales/engineers to architect client proposals.
  • CRM & Reporting Accurately manage pipeline in Dynamics CRM Forecast revenue and report weekly/monthly on progress.
  • Maintain high activity levels (calls, meetings, proposals).
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence Understand competitive landscape and differentiate offerings.
  • Provide feedback to leadership on market needs and product gaps.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000/year + Uncapped Commission
  • The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
