About The Position

As an "Outside" Quality Inspector, you will be the first line of defense for product quality at the plant. You’ll inspect and document all incoming product. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, decisive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Work schedule: Monday - Saturday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Summary Evaluates and tests fresh and brined stock to assure adherence to standards and specifications.

Requirements

  • High school graduate plus additional training needed.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions needed for job tasks.
  • Neat handwriting preferred for completing forms by hand.
  • Basic computer knowledge is essential.
  • Required to have reliable transportation and drive up to 5 miles per day during work hours to offsite unloading facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspects every container of stock as it is unloaded off the truck or trailer.
  • Obtains samples of cucumbers and other raw materials upon arrival at the plant.
  • Visually and manually observes sizing, firmness, and quality of stock.
  • Obtains samples of brined stock from barrels or other containers and performs various test including acidity, % salt or salometer, pH, sizing and other tests.
  • Ensures all required samples have been obtained and analyzed.
  • Documents results of all sampling and testing on proper forms.
  • Reports deviations to Supervisor in department 2600.
  • Records information for the tanking of individual tanks of fresh cucumbers.
  • Records information related to the tanking and storage of cucumbers and files the information in the appropriate locations.
  • Obtains samples from tanks daily and performs various tests including pH, acidity, sugar, and salometer.
  • Responsible for ensuring that data for all quality inspections is entered into the electronic database in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates stock brined during the year for sizing and quality issues as an aid in determining best use of stock.
  • Evaluates purchased brine stock to be sold for quality to help determine disposition.
  • Informs supervisors and others of deviations from specifications.
  • Carries radio and coordinates with Outside Production lead throughout the day to ensure all trucks and containers are inspected in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for keeping work stations stocked with necessary consumable supplies.
  • Keeps work area clean and neat.
  • Follows safety rules and company policies.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
