About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor to oversee daily operations across our night shift outside production area. This role is responsible for coordinating teams, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Post High School degree preferred, with additional education and training.
  • A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in production processes and a good working knowledge of mechanical processes and equipment is desired.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with computers, specifically with all Microsoft Suite products (primarily Excel).
  • Must possess aptitude to supervise and manage people, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely, and maintain acceptable discipline, morale, and teamwork.
  • Must successfully complete the Acidified Foods GMP School.
  • Must be certified to operate forklift and to handle chemicals.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Must speak, read and write in English.
  • Conversational Spanish a plus.
  • Must demonstrate aptitude to manage people, set example by own conduct and work habits, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely and maintain discipline, morale and teamwork at high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, and control the unloading, tanking, transporting, storage, and usage of cucumbers, peppers, brined stock and other agricultural products as directed by superintendent.
  • Directs unloading and storage of fresh stock as determined by production needs and as directed by Outside Production Superintendent.
  • Ensures that stock is promptly and efficiently handled to prevent deterioration of stock.
  • Directs the use and distribution of fresh and processed stock to the appropriate production lines in accordance with the production plan, while ensuring proper inventory rotation by using the oldest product first.
  • Directs the tanking of stock based on own decision and/or direction from Outside Production Superintendent.
  • Communicates with the Outside QA department to obtain tanks to fill with stock.
  • Prepares information instructing removal of stock from tanks by the Pickle Pump and Tractor Operators daily for both shifts.
  • Prepares info to direct Outside QA to unhead and head tanks, and to clean out empty tanks.
  • Maintains inventory of stock stored in barrels and directs preparation of stock and recording of information to ensure traceability of stock.
  • In collaboration with Outside QA, dumps stock from barrels to process or to brine and store for future use.
  • Directs sorting of plastic bins used for fresh cucumbers for repair or disposal.
  • Maintains storage of these bins.
  • Directs the hydrocooling process to ensure product is cooled to required temperatures and properly stored to maintain quality and food safety.
  • Maintains pickle pump, tractors, trailers, ramps, metal hoppers, and forklifts and other equipment by alerting Maintenance or others as required to situations requiring repair or attention.
  • Maintains departmental forklift data daily.
  • Effectively communicates quality deviations or other issues to appropriate management.
  • Assures all employee safety, food safety, and food quality rules and regulations are followed.
  • Communicates policies, rules and regulations to employees.
  • Assures all employees are properly trained and are performing their duties in these areas.
  • Monitors adherence to and assures compliance with “Standard Operating Procedures” (SOP’s) and “Good Manufacturing Practices.”
  • Assigns job tasks to departmental employees as dictated by day-to-day production requirements.
  • Assists employees with tasks if needed.
  • Coordinates work activities with other departments of Company.
  • Works closely with other supervisors to avoid confusion, misunderstandings and resulting downtime.
  • Meets regularly with Superintendent to discuss problems, opportunities, schedules, safety conditions, etc.
  • Reviews departmental reports for accuracy, completeness, and promptness.
  • Submits a daily shift report with staffing, tasks accomplished and any other pertinent information to have a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Maintains appropriate computerized and paper records and files on pertinent information.
  • Accountable for results in terms of costs, budgets, methods, safety, quantity, and quality of production, operations and personnel.
  • Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets.
  • Determines that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed.
  • May perform some duties of other Outside Production Supervisors in absence of same.
  • May be required to work on any shift.
  • Operates forklift in performance of some job duties.
  • Handles chemicals in performance of some job duties.
  • May represent company at outside meetings and events.
  • Ensures proper selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of and communication with employees.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
  • In the event of this employee’s absence, supervisory duties related to food safety and food quality will be assumed by the Outside Production Superintendent.
