About The Position

Cannon Companies is seeking an Outside Plant (OSP) Project Manager with expertise in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) to lead OSP telecommunications infrastructure projects from planning through completion. In this role, you'll oversee project execution, financial performance, customer relationships, and field operations while delivering high-quality fiber and utility infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget. You'll play a key role in helping communities stay connected by managing projects that make a lasting impact.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project management experience in telecommunications, fiber optic infrastructure, utility construction, or related industries.
  • Experience managing OSP projects that include Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) projects, crews, subcontractors, and associated construction activities.
  • Strong understanding of outside plant (OSP) construction, HDD operations, permitting processes, utility coordination, and construction scheduling.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Project, and reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites and customer meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing fiber network deployment projects.
  • Background in telecommunications construction or utility infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of contract administration and change management processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead OSP projects which include Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and outside plant telecommunications infrastructure projects through all phases, from estimating and planning to construction, closeout, and customer acceptance.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide leadership and support to HDD Superintendents, Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Review engineering drawings, permits, specifications, and construction plans to identify risks and develop effective execution strategies.
  • Coordinate activities among customers, municipalities, utility owners, permitting agencies, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, revenue reporting, invoicing, and change order management.
  • Lead project status meetings and communicate progress, risks, and resolutions to customers and company leadership.
  • Coordinate material procurement, equipment needs, subcontractor activities, and customer deliverables to maintain project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, schedules, trackers, and performance metrics.
  • Support business development efforts through estimating, bid reviews, proposal development, and customer engagement.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards, quality requirements, customer specifications, and applicable regulations.
