The Outside Plant Engineer manages internal and external partners and vendors overseeing outside- and inside-plant construction and maintenance for network extension projects that deliver fiber to new and existing customers. The role manages engineering and construction activities for assigned projects expanding and maintaining outside plant network infrastructure, leading multiple projects and using vendor resources to meet project deliverables. It coordinates with contractors, developers, municipalities, consultants, and other organizations to deliver projects on time, to specifications, and within budget. The engineer develops solutions using sound engineering and operational judgment; analyzes schedule changes and takes corrective action; identifies infrastructure vulnerabilities and supports network reliability within financial constraints. The role prepares cost analyses, project specifications, spend forecasts, route maps, requisitions, and business justifications; processes reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative work; and conducts field meetings, construction inspections, and final-product quality control. The engineer communicates project status to team members and customers and responds to network outages by coordinating resources and restoration activities. This is a hybrid role with a defined work location, including work from home and at least three days per week in the office. The position requires travel up to approximately 25% of the time and is scheduled for 40 hours per week.
