About The Position

The Outside Machinist Helper is an entry-level position that assists experienced Outside Machinists with hands-on mechanical work. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn a skilled trade, work with tools and machinery, and grow within the industrial or marine industry. Training is provided on the job, and safety is a top priority.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Basic math skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-minded.
• Interest in mechanical or industrial work.

Nice To Haves

• Prior industrial, mechanical, or marine experience is helpful but not required.
• Technical school coursework is a plus but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Help disassemble, clean, repair and reassemble industrial and marine equipment such as pumps, turbines, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment.
• Assist with moving, positioning, and aligning machinery using hand tools and basic measuring equipment.
• Support machinists with leveling equipment and setting parts in place accurately.
• Use basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures, feeler gauges, and micrometers (training provided).
• Help prepare tools, parts, and work areas before and after jobs.
• Follow instructions and learn proper work procedures from experienced machinists.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area at all times.
• Follow all safety rules, job site procedures, and PPE requirements.
