About The Position

This role is for an Outside Commercial Sales Representative based in the Chicago Metro Area, responsible for networking and building relationships with commercial architects, designers, brands, and contractors. The representative will provide exceptional account management, ensuring customers have an industry-best experience. The position reports to the Director of Commercial Sales and involves spending 75% of the time in the field with clients in Chicagoland, Minneapolis Metro, Detroit, and surrounding areas. The role is part of a highly collaborative 15-person commercial sales team across the U.S. and a full 60-person growing sales organization. Compensation is tied to success in maintaining active accounts, creating new project leads, and converting projects into quotes and book sales. Support is provided by teams in Marketing, Sales, Client Support, Innovation, and Production. The company utilizes technology such as Salesforce, Slack, and Google Apps.

Requirements

  • Outside Commercial Sales Representative role reports to the Director of commercial sales.
  • Located in the Chicago Metro Area.
  • Spend 75% of your time in the field with clients in Chicagoland, Minneapolis Metro, Detroit, and surrounding areas.

  • Responsible for managing your book of key accounts.
  • Compensation is directly tied to your success in maintaining active accounts, creating new project leads, and converting projects into quotes and book sales.
  • Supported by a phenomenal team across Marketing, Sales, Client Support, Innovation, and Production.
  • Use of technology leveraging Salesforce, Slack, Google Apps, and more.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Provide comprehensive support to clients, from responding to inquiries with detailed product, pricing, and delivery information to advising on design choices.
  • Be a high-performance networker who is with clients at least four days per week.
  • Lead 15-20 product presentations and project reviews weekly at client offices, our future Chicago showroom (coming in Q4 2025), and networking events.
  • Maintain client libraries with the most current and applicable products to ensure updated product assortment.

  • Comfortable meeting clients in Chicago daily, including same-day requests.
  • Unafraid to get hands-on with building materials and manufacturing environments.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Travel to access your key market city centers, California (Fireclay HQ), Washington, or other places a few times a year will be required.
  • This is a full-time exempt position.
  • Days and hours of work are approximately Monday through Friday; hours may vary, and some weekend work is required for events and supporting clients.
  • This position often requires long hours and frequent early morning/evening work based on networking and client engagement events.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Manage your book of key accounts.
  • Maintain active accounts, create new project leads, and convert projects into quotes and book sales.
  • Travel to access key market city centers, California (Fireclay HQ), Washington, or other places a few times a year.
  • Ensure all safety precautions and the law are followed during travel.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Base pay of $75K-$90K combined with commission, total earnings range from $90K-$140K in the first full year based on performance. Future earnings can exceed $150K and higher with no cap on commissions.
