About The Position

The Outreach Worker II is primarily responsible for providing assistance to displaced and unhoused community members in Kent and Sussex County. The Outreach Worker II is part of a team who engages in on-site outreach programming at the Milford and Hopes and Dreams Site, street-based outreach programming, encampment outreach programming, conducts screening, provides internal and external referrals, and provides ongoing case management. BCCS Outreach programs offer an array of support and resources, including anonymous needle exchange services, free HIV and HCV testing and counseling, pregnancy testing, overdose prevention counseling, information related to reducing risk, referrals to drug treatment, health care, and social services, and access to basic needs such as clothing, showers, and laundry services. The Outreach Worker II acts as a liaison between the clients and services, assisting the clients with treatment entry and navigating the steps necessary to successfully link clients to helping professionals. The Outreach Worker II is responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate outreach services and for maintaining high professional standards. Outreach Workers are often our client’s first impression of BCCS. Therefore, Outreach Workers are expected to maintain professional standards. The Outreach Worker must be conscious of this responsibility and expectation at all times. BCCS core values should be exemplified in an outreach worker’s professional conduct, attitude, and approach.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with 2 points or less
  • Must be a Peer (in recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). If not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities
