About The Position

The Outreach Specialist is responsible for coordinating The Resource Center’s (TRC) presence at community events to enhance awareness of TRC and the supports it provides. This role ensures the availability of promotional materials, maintains event-related equipment, and assesses the effectiveness of TRC's participation. The specialist will also document and promote TRC's presence at events through social media and contribute to the overall marketing and development efforts of the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree plus two (2) years’ experience in community outreach, communications or public relations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate TRC's presence at community events.
  • Ensure availability of handouts, brochures, and giveaways for events.
  • Maintain event materials such as signage, banners, tablecloths, and popup tents.
  • Ensure visual displays comply with TRC standards and partner organization expectations.
  • Ascertain the effectiveness of TRC's participation at events and suggest improvements.
  • Document and promote TRC's presence at events through social media.
  • Develop, maintain, and expand a list of community events and opportunities for TRC.
  • Identify appropriate departments for event presence and ensure coverage.
  • Work with departments and Marketing staff to ensure sufficient and current promotional materials.
  • Develop and order event materials (table, tablecloth, banners, signage, popup tent, giveaways, etc.).
  • Network with external event participants and attendees to leverage opportunities for engagement (service enrollment, employee/volunteer recruitment, collaborations, sponsorship, membership promotion).
  • Assess event effectiveness and implement changes to increase future effectiveness.
  • Convey the scope of TRC's supports and services to community members.
  • Assist in posting content on social media channels for TRC and affiliated corporations.
  • Assist in planning and implementing media use to educate the public and increase awareness of TRC, Filling the Gap, and Community Inclusion, Inc.
  • Write articles and human-interest stories for internal and external use.
  • Maintain favorable internal communications.
  • Support and participate in functions and activities pertaining to TRC staff and service recipients.
  • Contribute to special events coordinated by TRC and affiliated corporations, including marketing, promotion, and volunteering.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the media.
  • Represent TRC and Filling the Gap at speaking engagements.
  • Function as a member of the Community Relations, Marketing and Development Department.
