About The Position

Child & Family Service (CFS) is seeking an Outreach Specialist to conduct community outreach and screening for trauma and/or mental health concerns. The role involves providing information and referral services, making linkages, and offering informal lay counseling based on identified needs. Priority will be given to individuals and families who have experienced trauma due to a natural disaster. CFS is a community-based organization established in 1899, dedicated to strengthening families and fostering the healthy development of children through various support, counseling, and therapeutic programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus additional courses or specialized training.
  • Ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively.
  • Knowledge of stenography, office routines, and elementary accounting procedures.
  • Over one year, up to and including two years of experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing direct care to children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and trauma-informed crisis response and stabilization.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people of diverse social, economic, ethnic/racial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis.
  • Subject to a criminal background investigation.
  • Successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Successful completion of CPR, First Aid, AED classes.
  • Requires contacts both inside and outside at all organizational levels.
  • Requires considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain results.
  • May present new methods, programs, and controversial issues.

Responsibilities
