About The Position

Under general supervision, this position supports the library’s mission of being a community center for lifelong discovery and learning by managing and scheduling the library’s adult and family programming and outreach services. Performs duties requiring considerable judgment and initiative in planning and overseeing programming and outreach services within and outside the library. This position will seek to establish ongoing weekly activities, events, and programs as well as large events that will be scheduled on a quarterly or yearly basis. Reports to the Library Director. Please note this position is subject to working evenings and Saturdays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • three (3) years of experience in a job related field
  • an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Successful applicant must hold a valid driver's license
  • pass a criminal background check (including driving record)
  • pass a physical
  • pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Researches programs, speakers, events, activities, etc., that would be beneficial to the library and the Foley community.
  • Contacts individuals and organizations that will participate in programming or will partner with the library in creating programs and events.
  • Meets, schedules, and arranges for programs, events or activities to take place via various avenues available.
  • Prepares the venue for activities, events, and/or programs to include decoration, food, and space allocation for organizations, individuals, or vendors depending on the type of event scheduled, including execution of the event and cleanup afterward.
  • Creates and distributes promotional materials to include posters, cards, press releases and any other related items which will be distributed locally and among the various social media outlets utilized; markets the services and databases offered by the library.
  • Gathers statistics through various means in order to track the performance of the activity, event, and/or program as a means of improving and adding to the catalog of offerings within this program.
  • Seeks to establish ongoing weekly activities, events, and/or programs as well as large events that will be scheduled on a quarterly or yearly basis.
  • Manages and creates displays to promote activities, events, and/or programs as well as various monthly celebrations and important dates.
  • Orders materials needed for events, speakers, or activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
