This full-time Outreach Athletic Trainer position provides athletic training services to high schools and/or community sporting events. The role involves working within a Sports Medicine Team concept, providing acute medical care to athletes on the field during practices or events, and offering clinical athletic training services in local orthopedic clinics as needed. The position requires on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate care for illnesses and injuries, including emergency situations. The athletic trainer will perform clinical injury evaluations, assess patient function, and implement therapeutic treatment and rehabilitation strategies. They will also determine return-to-play standards, maintain detailed records, and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for coverage. Collaboration with directing physicians, development of a physician referral network, and maintenance of concussion education are also key aspects of the role. The position may involve mentoring students and healthcare professionals, and ensuring emergency action plans are in place for each venue.
