Heart Math Tutoring IncCharlotte, NC
2h$48,000 - $54,000Onsite

About The Position

Do you believe all children can be successful in math and school with the right supports? So do we! When you join Heart Math Tutoring, you'll be part of unlocking the powerful resource of volunteer time to make a positive, immediate difference for students, schools, and everyone involved. Heart is launching in Cabarrus County in the 2026–27 school year, beginning with one school and approximately 50 students. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build something meaningful in your community. The Outreach & Program Coordinator is a dual-function role. During the school year, roughly half of your time is spent on-site at your assigned school, directly supporting students and volunteers as a Program Coordinator. The other half is focused on outreach — building the community relationships and volunteer pipeline that make Heart's work possible. This role is based in Cabarrus County with travel to Heart’s Charlotte office for program training and periodic staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Commitment and passion for improving education for all people, with the belief that a strong foundation in math is critical to a person's success and that all students can learn math and ultimately perform at or above grade level.
  • Makes a strong, positive impression in networking and community settings — polished, confident, and willing to make asks on behalf of Heart's mission.
  • Able to teach, tailor, and lead others; comfortable in sales and recruitment environments and willing to study best practices in both.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset; able to work toward goals with minimal supervision — especially important in a new market.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of learning and adjusting course based on new information, including seeking out best practices from other organizations and sectors.
  • Desire to work with elementary-aged students and comfort engaging across a wide range of stakeholders — students, families, school staff, volunteers, community partners, and funders.
  • Ability/willingness to quickly build expertise in teaching, learning, and assessing
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong belief in the importance of data.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) for managing relationships, tracking outreach activity, and reporting on progress.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, email and contact management, file sharing systems, and video conference platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community relations, corporate partnerships, nonprofit outreach, or event planning; strong public speaking skills; and/or existing connections in the Cabarrus County area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 50 – 60 students’ growth in math skills and enthusiasm for academics
  • Manage and support 50 – 80 weekly volunteers
  • Liaise with teachers, school staff, and families.
  • Serve as Heart's local presence in Cabarrus County — building awareness and trust with schools, community organizations, and partners, and cultivating relationships that strengthen Heart's long-term foothold in the region.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, faith communities, colleges/universities, and civic organizations to recruit volunteers — through account management, networking events, and direct asks.
  • Meet individual recruitment goals set in collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Operations, supporting the collective goal of 100% tutor coverage for students served.
  • Manage volunteer inquiries and sign-ups through Salesforce, ensuring timely and thorough follow-up.
  • Engage with funders and community stakeholders in a stewarding capacity, maintaining warm, informed relationships in partnership with Heart's Charlotte-based team.
  • Partner with Heart’s Charlotte-based Volunteer Operations team on volunteer communications, ensuring consistency and coordination across markets.
  • Plan and execute community and tutor events that build Heart's visibility and deepen relationships with volunteers, schools, and community partners in Cabarrus County.
  • Other duties as assigned
