About The Position

The Outpost/Sporting Goods PIC is responsible for stocking, straightening, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the department to create an appealing and safe shopping environment. This role also involves scheduling and supervising team members within the department, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Key responsibilities include placing regular orders for merchandise, performing background checks on firearm sales in strict accordance with company guidelines and federal/state laws and regulations, accurately logging, inventorying, transferring, selling, and recording firearms, and providing exemplary customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Customer service skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Sporting Goods, Fishing and Hunting preferred.
  • Ability to speak and receive phone communications often.
  • Ability to use computer with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
  • Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 20 pounds below waist.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds at waist/chest.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds above shoulders.
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

Responsibilities

  • Stock, straighten, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the department.
  • Schedule and supervise team members within the department.
  • Place regular orders for merchandise to ensure the department is well-stocked.
  • Perform background checks on firearm sales in accordance with company guidelines and laws.
  • Accurately log, inventory, transfer, sell, and record firearms.
  • Provide exemplary customer service, addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Project sales and schedule labor to comply with established standards.
  • Implement and maintain merchandising standards, including product arrangement, restocking, and rotation.
  • Verify product signage accuracy and replace signs as needed.
  • Utilize tools like a box knife to unbox and display products.
  • Manage register transactions, including high-ticket item verification.
  • Assist with merchandise transfer and packaging orders.
  • Adhere to safety and security procedures.
  • Handle payments accurately and maintain register funds.
  • Complete department setup and closing duties, cleaning, restocking, and paperwork.
  • Use a manual pallet jack to move and position pallets of merchandise.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising priorities.
  • Maintain department cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, wiping, dusting, and trash disposal.
  • Work with vendors to optimize order quantities and product rotation.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service, including answering inquiries and directing customers.
  • Assist in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, cardboard baler, and electronic order gun.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
