The Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse is responsible for managing care to the patient and family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. He/she is responsible for assessing, prescribing, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating nursing care of patients. The Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse prioritizes patient care needs and provides leadership and development of the patient care team. Individuals within this position must be able to function fully within performance expectations defined for nurses in a surgical setting. The Eye and Ear Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides specialized outpatient surgical care in ophthalmology, ENT, plastics, and other same‑day procedures. RNs in the OR and Pre‑Op/PACU support the full perioperative experience, including pre‑surgical assessments, intraoperative circulating/scrub roles, and post‑anesthesia recovery. RNs in this unit work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment focused on safety, efficiency, and exceptional patient experience.
