About The Position

Manages the day-to-day functions of the Outpatient Medical Assistants. Assures the flow of normal medical activities as relates to outpatient functions. Ensures even flow of job tasks and work completed, working with staff on problem areas, developing and implementing solutions. Position will require on call after hours, holidays, and/or weekend work.

Requirements

Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
Three (3) years experience in medical clinical setting required
Possession of a valid Alabama driver license.

Nice To Haves

Preferred experience with Patient Assistant Program and Psychiatric experience
Preferred experience with scheduling and claims in medical office
Supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

Perform supervisory responsibilities, including evaluating and supervising medical staff, coordinating job assignments and scheduling, acting as a liaison between medical staff and clerical coordinator/clinical supervisor, and between medical staff and consumers. Assist in ensuring an even flow of job tasks, monitoring work, and implementing solutions. Monitor and train outpatient medical staff.
Coordinate with Administration, including coordinating with the IT Department regarding EMR for medical staff and facilitating error corrections. Act as a liaison between outpatient medical staff and the business office regarding patient accounts and failed claims.
Perform medical reviews of charts as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned, including attending and organizing training sessions, coordinating correction of punch time errors, maintaining travel vouchers, and ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date prior to taking annual leave.
Maintain regular attendance with timely arrival and departure according to scheduled hours. Must be able to work full time with rotating assignments as necessary, including overtime, nights, and/or weekends. Must remain awake during scheduled working hours to ensure client/employee safety.
