About The Position

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing services for individuals receiving behavioral healthcare in accordance with medical protocols. Assesses the client’s condition, develops care plans, and provides treatment and education. Participates as a member of the clinical treatment team and offers guidance on matters related to nursing treatment and health related matters. Provides direct nursing services and/or clinical education services to clients and their families/significant others.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed to practice in the State of Georgia.
• Must be able to perform venipuncture and medication injections.
• Must possess basic computer and typing skills.
• Ability to use an electronic health record.

• Prior experience working with behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments of clients of all ages to determine current status and acts to perform needed interventions.
• Documents results of assessments and formulates nursing interventions.
• Performs venipuncture and other CLIA-waived testing, including urine drug screening and breathalyzer.
• Administers injections.
• Completes AIMS Assessments as ordered by the MD or APRN.
• Ensures physician/APRN orders are responded to in a timely manner.
• Facilitates collection of laboratory specimens.
• Measures and records client vital signs.
• Coordinates medical and psychiatric care with community providers.
• Assumes leadership role in medical emergencies in the absence of the physician or APRN.
• Provides health related training/education for clients and families.
• Facilitates health education groups as needed.
• Maintains examination room, equipment, and supplies.
• May provide clinical supervision for Licensed Professional Nursing staff, as assigned.
• Contributes professional nursing knowledge in client care decision making.
• Delegates or follows through with assignments to promote safe and optimal care.
• Exhibits clear and professional communication with clients, and other staff.
• Communicates information clearly to physicians and other providers.
• Effectively communicates to families, other Claratel programs, and/or community partners.
• Completes all documentation within 24 hours of service delivery.
