The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. The nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The Non‑Oncology Weekend Infusion Clinics at OSU Wexner Medical Center provide a specialized, patient‑focused outpatient environment where RNs deliver and monitor non‑oncologic infusion therapies. Nurses in this unit practice at the top of their license—performing assessments, administering complex medications, ensuring safety, educating patients, and coordinating care across disciplines. The weekend float structure supports system‑wide coverage while offering RNs a dynamic, collaborative, and relationship‑centered practice setting.
