The RN is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care—including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for an assigned group of patients. The role may include delegating appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff, including RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease health care team, the RN participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities that support patient outcomes and facility operations. Duties are performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, procedures, nursing practice standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. The role is directed by the Supervisor and receives guidance from a Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or other Registered Nurses. CAP requirements must be completed to advance. The work involves direct patient care in a health care facility. It includes regular heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation; frequent prolonged standing and bending; and occasional assisted movement of machines and equipment weighing up to 200 pounds and lifting chemical and water solutions weighing up to 30 pounds as high as five feet. The employee may encounter infectious or contagious diseases and materials. Daily work also includes desk and computer work and interaction with patients, facility and hospital staff, and physicians. Travel to training sites or other facilities may be required, and the employee may be asked to perform the role at other locations under the same physical demands and working conditions.
