About The Position

The Outpatient Registered Nurse CAP 1 is an entry-level designation in Fresenius Kidney Care’s Clinical Advancement Program. The role is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care—including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for an assigned group of patients. The nurse may delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient-care staff, including RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team, the nurse participates in clinical decision-making, patient and family teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that support patient outcomes and facility operations. The nurse performs duties under the direction of the Supervisor, with guidance from a Clinical Educator or Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses, and follows Fresenius Kidney Care policies, standards of nursing practice, and applicable state and federal regulations. The role requires completion of CAP requirements for advancement. Assigned oversight of Patient Care Technicians, LPNs/LVNs, or RNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge is conditional on completing the stated training and experience requirements. The position provides direct patient care in a health care facility. Work includes regular heavy lifting, moving and assisting patients, frequent and prolonged standing, bending, desk and computer work, and interaction with patients, facility or hospital staff, and physicians. The nurse may be exposed to infectious or contagious diseases or materials and may need to travel to training sites or other facilities.
