About The Position
The Outpatient Registered Dietitian at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina, guides patients, families, and facility staff on medical nutrition therapy to support a healthy and healing environment. The role builds relationships with physicians and nurses to support patient satisfaction and provide quality care that meets patients’ nutritional needs. The starting salary is $62,000 annually, negotiable based on experience, with a $3,000 registered dietitian sign-on bonus. The position also includes paid CDR and state licensure fees and up to 18 free continuing education units annually.
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure as a dietitian as required by state regulations.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in food and nutrition or a related field.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards.
- Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and various software.
- Ability to interact with individuals of all backgrounds.
- Effective written, spoken, and non-verbal communication.

Responsibilities
- Complete nutritional assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for inpatient and outpatient care.
- Educate patients, families, nursing, food service, and other facility staff about nutritional needs.
- Document patient assessments, nutritional goals, and interventions in the medical record.
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff about patients’ nutritional status.
- Manage physician orders for therapeutic diets and supplements.
- Attend patient rounds and maintain clinical nutrition policies to support regulatory compliance.
