About The Position

Backpack Healthcare is seeking a part-time remote psychiatrist to provide mental health care for children, teens, and young adults via telehealth. The role involves working within an integrated care team alongside PMHNPs, therapists, and care coordinators. The position offers flexibility, clinical collaboration, and the opportunity to practice great psychiatric care without the demands of a full-time schedule. Backpack Healthcare is a clinician-led and minority-owned organization that has served over 12,000 kids and families since 2020, focusing on accessible and effective online mental health services.

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completed psychiatry residency
Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry
Active Georgia medical license and DEA license
Strong communication skills and genuine comfort working with diverse patient populations

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish
Experience in outpatient, community mental health, or integrated care settings
Familiarity with telepsychiatry platforms and EHR systems

Responsibilities

Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments across the lifespan
Diagnose and manage ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and more
Develop individualized treatment plans including medication management and therapy recommendations
Collaborate with therapists, PMHNPs, primary care providers, schools, and families
Provide crisis intervention and ongoing support as needed
Participate in team meetings and clinical consultations
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with HIPAA and Georgia regulations
Stay current on developments in psychiatric care and evidence-based treatment
