Under the supervision of the Outpatient Pharmacy Administrative Director and/or Pharmacy Manager, and according to department policies, and procedures, and guidelines, is responsible for the compounding and dispensing of prescribed pharmaceuticals. Responsible for checking all medication prior to dispensing and delivery. This position is located in the Outpatient Pharmacy Department at Crosstown Pharmacy and is Per Diem. Provides drug education and counseling to patients as outlines in department policies and procedures. Provides in-service education to pharmacy staff, students, nurses, physicians and other healthcare practitioners, as needed. Attends and participates in department staff development conferences or other activities related to staff development. Develops competencies as related to position. Maintains own professional and specialized competency through continued education: attendance of at least one regional or national meeting per year. Meets hospital-wide standards in the following areas: Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided. Utilizes hospital’s behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital’s mission and goals. Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures. Performs other related tasks as needed.
