About The Position

A licensed physical therapist employed by Erlanger Health System, is responsible for direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation of the patient. Diagnoses and manages movement dysfunction and enhances physical and functional abilities. Restores, maintains, and promotes not only optimal physical function but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health. Prevents the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries. Evaluates orthopedic patients in an outpatient setting, plans, and administers patient treatments to relieve pain or improve function. Provides professional care in accordance with American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards and Tennessee State Board of Examiners scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Licensed physical therapist
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
  • Knowledge of general physical therapy principles and practical skills
  • Physical Therapist Tennessee licensure
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy
  • At least 2-3 yrs of Outpatient Orthopaedic practice experience
  • Manual Therapy Skill Set / Certification

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional abilities.

  • Prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities.
  • Evaluate orthopedic patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Plan and administer patient treatments to relieve pain or improve function.
  • Provide professional care in accordance with American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards and Tennessee State Board of Examiners scope of practice.
  • Develop an individual plan of treatment for each patient.
  • Provide age-appropriate treatment.
  • Participate in team meetings and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and their families in the patient's treatment program.
  • Direct Physical Therapist Assistants and Patient Care Technicians in patient treatments.
  • Maintain accurate written reports.
  • Maintain standards as set down by the American Physical Therapy Association regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics.
  • Participate in continuing education programs.
  • Participate in community education.
  • Act as a clinical instructor for PT and PTA students.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement efforts of the department and the Medical Center.
