Requirements

Competent in coding of Outpatient Records for both ICD-10 CM and CPT codes for both hospital and professional.
Ability to populate correct discharge dispositions as well as applicable occurrence codes.
Ability to review the record for medical necessity.
Ability to follow up on accounts needing additional documentation for coding.
Proficiency in utilizing specialized coding resources for accuracy.

Responsibilities

Codes and abstracts outpatient accounts daily using computer generated work ques of discharged patient encounters.
Competent in coding of Outpatient Records for both ICD-10 CM and CPT codes for both hospital and professional.
Populates correct discharge dispositions as well as applicable occurrence codes.
Reviews the record for medical necessity.
Assists other departments / offices as a coding resource.
Follows up on accounts needing additional documentation for coding.
Utilizes all specialized coding resources available for accuracy in coding.
