About The Position

The Outpatient Clinical Coordinator provides day-to-day coordination of pediatric outpatient services and is accountable to clinic administration. This role supports staff supervision, patient throughput, physician relations, patient safety, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, scheduling, and supply management, operating within the Driscoll Children's Hospital mission, vision, and values. Driscoll Children’s Hospital is a 191-bed tertiary care center serving 31 South Texas counties, offering 32 medical and 13 surgical specialties. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Successful completion of DCH Orientation Course within three months of hire.
  • Successful completion of Code Management within three months of hire.
  • Successful completion of HIS/LIS courses within three months of hire.
  • Successful completion of medication orientation course within three months of hire.
  • Minimum of two years of Charge Nurse experience.
  • Current Texas RN license.
  • PALS within one year of hire date.
  • CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • National certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day coordination of pediatric outpatient services.
  • Supports staff supervision, patient throughput, physician relations, patient safety, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, scheduling, and supply management.

  • Drafts staff evaluations for clinic leadership review.

  • Participates in meetings with the Director, Medical Director, and staff of unit.
  • Supports new processes to improve departmental functioning.
  • Seeks ways to improve processes and problem-solving.
  • Assumes a leadership role and acts as a “change agent” role model.
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and best practices.
  • Provides oversight of equipment and supplies.
  • Completes clinic work as assigned.
  • Documents adherence to departmental guidelines.
  • Adheres to all safety policies.
  • Maintains professionalism (i.e., conduct, appearance).
  • Responsible for staff scheduling including PTO approval.
  • Works in partnership with physicians to assure that patient care needs are met.
  • Assesses patient care processes, employee relations, and physician satisfaction, sharing that assessment with clinic leadership on a routine basis.
  • Effectively supports performance management system including: Development feedback, Goal setting, Assesses competency, Progressive discipline.
  • Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
  • Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
  • Supervises RN’s, LVN’s, Athletic Trainer, MA’s/CMA/ PCT/ Orthopedic Tech, MOS/Medical Secretary job classes.
