About The Position

Greets and welcomes patients and visitors upon arrival. Schedules patient visits including coordination of the scheduling of multiple physician visits related to the delivery of specialty care. Obtains and updates patient insurance and demographic information. Ensures authorizations from third party payors are secured in conjunction with UMPhysicians referral management staff. Maintains high visibility and availability at entrance/exit. Is responsible for servicing patients and families until which time patient care staff can assume responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to patients/visitors in the clinic/on the phone
  • Greets patients in respectful manner
  • Assesses need for special accommodation/transfer
  • Responds to patient questions in an appropriate manner
  • Addresses customer satisfaction issues in an efficient manner
  • Relays preparatory instructions to patient
  • Provides direction to patients and visitors to appropriate areas within the hospital, outpatient clinics and ancillary services
  • Demonstrates proper telephone and paging system technique and etiquette
  • Coordinates visits with specialists, diagnosticians, and all other ancillary departments integral to the delivery of specialized care for Fairview patients.
  • Properly manages medical record information when preparing and transferring charts
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize the multiple needs of specialty clinic patients to coordinate services and enhance patient convenience and satisfaction most effectively.
  • Provides secretarial support including Transcribes physician orders
  • Uses forms/documents required for patient care visits
  • Collaborates with other health team members, including physicians, residents, fellows, nursing and clerical staff, and other ancillary services, to provide quality care for patients and families
  • Responds to patient questions in an appropriate manner
  • Operates the scheduling, registration, referral, billing, and record results reporting systems
  • Verifies and completes necessary information for registration, charge capture and referral management process
  • Demonstrates knowledge of contracted payors and obligations of primary or specialty clinic
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
  • Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making
  • Communicates in a respective manner
