Works Under The Supervision Of The Manager/Clinical Coordinator. The Audiologist Assesses, Plans, Implements, Evaluates And Supervises Individual Patient Care According to Professional Standards and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Provides Direction of Support Personnel in the Assigned Area. Delegates and Supervises Area Activities. May be required to work in other areas according to distribution of staff and patients. Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Requested In Order to Maintain a High Level of Service.

Requirements

M.A., M.S., Or M.Ed. In Audiology
State Of Connecticut, Department Of Health (Division Of Medical Quality Assurance)- Audiology.
BLS Required.
Certificate Of Clinical Competence (Ccc) In Audiology By American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Asha)

Nice To Haves

Previous Experience In Hospital Or Outpatient Based Facility Helpful.

Responsibilities

Provides Screening, Identification, Assessment And Interpretation, Diagnosis And Habilitation/Rehabilitation Of Disorders Of The Peripheral And Central Auditory System (Auditory And Vestibular Function).
Administers And Interprets Behavioral, Electroacoustic And Electrophysiologic Measures Of The Peripheral And Central Auditory Systems, Using Standardized Testing Procedures And Appropriately Calibrated Instrumentation.
Evaluates And Fits Amplification Devices, Including Hearing Aids And Assistive Listening Devices, Determining The Appropriateness Of Amplification Systems For Persons With Hearing Impairment, Evaluating Their Benefit And Providing Counseling And Education Regarding Their Use.
Provides Education, Support, Counseling And Resources Regarding Hearing Loss, The Use Of Hearing Prosthetic Devices And Strategies For Improving Speech Recognition, The Effects Of Hearing Loss On Communication And Psychosocial Status In Personal, Social And Vocational Areas.
Develops, Communicates, Implements, Coordinates And Documents A Plan Of Care Reflecting Individualized Patient Problems And Interventions To Achieve Desired Outcomes, Involving The Patient, Family And Interdisciplinary Healthcare Or Educational Team In This Process. Revises The Plan Of Care As Needed And Makes Referrals Where Indicated.
Participates In And Supports Performance Improvement And Risk Management Activities.
Functions As A Preceptor To New Staff.
Completes Required Training And Education, Including Department/Unit Specific Requirements
Assumes Responsibilities For Professional Development And Participates In Activities And Committees That Foster Clinical Development.
Provides Community Education, Consultation And Referrals To Promote Prevention And To Maximize Independence In Daily Activities.
Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.
Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department/Unit.
