Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 15 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a criminal record check.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must have sufficient verbal and written command of the English language
  • Exceptional customer service skills to interact with donors and members of the public.
  • Dependability and reliability is required.
  • As this position requires lifting, sorting and moving donations, candidates must be able to regularly lift in excess of 10 kilograms (22 pounds).
  • Basic mathematical and written English skills to maintain reports.
  • Must be responsible for own transportation to and from work, as well as to and from Goodwill training sessions

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting members of the public throughout the store and providing information on store products.
  • Sincerely and genuinely thanking donors and customers for supporting Goodwill’s mission.
  • Placing donations in designated storage area for sorting.
  • Understanding and adhering to Goodwill Health and Safety policies, safe work practices and procedures.
  • Rotating stock and ensuring the store is presentable.
  • Checking the premises for items left overnight and bring them inside.
  • Unlocking the donor center and furniture store doors.
  • Educating customers about Goodwill’s mission.
  • Completing all paperwork as required.
  • Using appropriate equipment, personal protective equipment and tools and follow all safety guidelines for equipment and tools.
  • Performing all cleaning tasks as listed in prescribed site SOPs.
