About The Position

This temporary, 40-hour/week position contributes to the flow of goods through the outlet store and salvage departments, aiming to minimize waste and maximize profits that fund community services. The Outlet Cashier Trainee makes customers feel welcomed and appreciated by greeting them, accurately ringing sales transactions in a friendly manner, and providing excellent customer service. This role involves operating a cash register, receiving payments, recording sales, balancing cash drawers, encouraging donations through the change round-up program, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the workstation, sales floor, and restrooms. The trainee will also assist with pulling and rotating store merchandise and ensuring aisles are clear of debris. Adherence to all company policies and procedures is required.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. with assistance occasionally.
  • Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists.
  • Must be able to work all shifts required Sunday-Saturday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM to be eligible for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Prior work experience in the service industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures World Class donor and customer service.
  • Answers phone in three rings.
  • Greets customers within 10 seconds and provides friendly service and information.
  • Thanks customers at the end of transactions for supporting the mission and invites them back.
  • Acknowledges all customers and employees within a 10-foot radius.
  • Operates cash register, receives payments for purchases, and records sales and other transactions.
  • Balances cash drawers at the end of each shift, ensuring no cash discrepancies exceeding $5.00 over or short after one week of training.
  • Encourages customers to donate through the change round up program.
  • Checks and cleans restrooms at least hourly.
  • Collects and keeps shopping carts stacked and orderly.
  • Follows production guidelines, as assigned.
  • Reaches production guidelines, as assigned.
  • Transfers tables from the back room to the sales floor when working in the warehouse.
  • Rotates tables from the sales floor and returns them to the proper place in the warehouse.
  • Ensures a clean and empty workstation at the end of each shift.
  • Pulls and rotates store merchandise as instructed by supervisor or manager.
  • Keeps aisles free from debris in the production and sales floor area.
  • Maintains the image of the sales floor and assists in store housekeeping including daily cleaning of the floor, fixtures, and restrooms, as assigned.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
