About The Position

The Outpatient Clinic Counselor is responsible for case management for individuals in need of addictions services. This role involves providing direct diagnostic evaluative services, assessing client diagnoses and counseling needs, and delivering therapeutic services through individual, conjoint, family, and/or group therapy. The counselor will handle intake and service loads with independent judgment, participate in agency meetings, and maintain positive relationships with community groups and referral sources. Additionally, the role includes providing counseling to develop client skills, demonstrating teamwork and flexibility, responding to crisis situations, ensuring timely and accurate documentation in compliance with regulations, and performing other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Health/Human Services.
  • Valid NYS Drivers’ License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Pursuit of QHP is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct diagnostic evaluative services to clients.
  • Assessing the client’s primary and secondary diagnosis and need for further counseling.
  • Supplying identified clients’ direct therapeutic services through individual, conjoint, family and/or group therapy.
  • Handling intake and service load with independent judgment using self-initiated consultation in technical problems of diagnostic evaluation in treatment techniques.
  • Participating in general, staff, in-service and supervisory meetings held by the Agency.
  • Maintaining positive and effective relationships with community groups, referral sources and service agencies.
  • Participating in community presentations and training programs.
  • Providing counseling to assist clients in the development of appropriate interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrating teamwork and an ability to work in a team environment with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrating the ability to be flexible and cooperative.
  • Responding appropriately to crisis/emergency situations in order to ensure/secure the safety/well-being of the clients.
  • Assuring all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with agency/OASAS regulations, practices, policies & procedures.
  • Demonstrating professionalism by providing quality service and care with respect and dignity for the clients and as a representative of FLACRA.
  • Performing other duties and functions as directed.
