About The Position

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Build members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. This position provides direct supervision to a group of children in a school-age setting. Provides positive engagement to youth in a safe, nurturing environment. Provides quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must pass a background check
  • 2+ years' experience working with youth preferably in a school age setting.
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Completed health form within the first 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Behavioral management experience within a School, Childcare, Camp setting or parenthood is preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience working with children with cognitive and developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training with the first 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
  • Provides positive engagement to youth in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Provides quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
  • Supervises a group of children grades K-5.
  • Plans and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally proper, and consistent with the YMCA values.
  • Provides leadership to co-staff.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings, training, and dedicated events. (Family nights and others)
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
