OTR – Hand Therapy Specialist
About The Position
Pacific Coast Post-Acute in Salinas, California, is hiring an Occupational Therapist (OTR) specializing in hand therapy for part-time and PRN work. The role offers a starting rate of $74–$75 per hour and involves leading the hand therapy program for complex post-surgical cases, traumatic injuries, and chronic upper-extremity conditions. The facility features a large rehabilitation gym and an activities of daily living (ADL) suite with a functional kitchen and laundry for real-world recovery simulation. The position is described as offering clinical autonomy and a coastal setting near the Monterey Peninsula.
Requirements
- Current, valid California Occupational Therapist (OTR) license.
- Proven experience in hand therapy; significant clinical experience in the specialty is accepted.
- Proficiency in manual therapy, wound care, and custom splinting.
- Commitment to elevating the standard of post-acute rehabilitation.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive hand and upper-extremity evaluations, including sensory testing, range of motion, and strength assessment.
- Implement evidence-based recovery plans for tendon repairs, fractures, nerve compressions, and joint replacements.
- Design, fabricate, and fit custom splints to protect healing tissue and support functional outcomes.
- Use the ADL simulation suite to connect clinical exercises with daily-life activities.
- Serve as the rehabilitation team's subject matter expert for upper-extremity and hand-related rehabilitation.
