About The Position

The Tractor-Trailer Driver will safely and efficiently deliver finished goods, products, and materials to customers in a timely and professional manner. This job description reflects the current assignment of essential functions and is not meant to be all-inclusive. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional driving experience operating a tractor-trailer or other heavy commercial vehicle.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), held for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
  • Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a good and positive working relationship with all co-workers and other contacts.
  • Required to comply with all Imperative Logistics' policies and procedures.
  • Work requires straight pulling, simple and dual simultaneous grasping, standing, sitting, crouching, twisting, pushing, stooping, reaching above shoulders, climbing stairs, walking, carrying over 45 pounds, and moderate lifting over 45 pounds.
  • Ability to see, write, count, read, identify shade of colors, and hear is needed to perform essential functions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required.
  • Candidates with certifications relevant to warehouse management, logistics, or safety are encouraged to submit them for consideration.
  • Knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand applications for use.
  • Ability to plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
  • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
  • Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
  • Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
  • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Supervisor.
  • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
