About The Position

Furst-McNess Company is hiring a full-time Over the Road (OTR) CDL Driver based at its Storm Lake, Iowa location. The driver transports animal nutrition products throughout an assigned regional service area, making safe, timely deliveries to farms, vendor locations, company facilities, and other destinations supporting business operations. The role involves operating a company-provided sleeper-equipped Class A tractor-trailer and representing the company professionally to customers and business partners. The core schedule is Monday through Friday, with drivers typically spending three nights per week on the road and returning home for weekends. Overnight travel may occasionally extend to four nights per week based on business needs. Candidates must live within approximately 3.5 hours of Storm Lake, Iowa. Routes primarily serve the Midwest and nearby regions, including Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, the Dakotas, and parts of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. The truck has a manual transmission; take-home truck privileges may be available depending on residence and operational needs. Compensation is determined by relevant experience and the interview process and includes competitive per-mile pay, hourly breakdown pay, and per-stop bonuses. Payroll is biweekly. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Ability to safely operate a manual-transmission Class A CDL tractor-trailer.
Acceptable driving record and ability to meet DOT requirements.
Ability to travel overnight and spend multiple nights during the week away from home as business needs require.
Comfort with mobile technology, ELDs, and routing applications.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and safely move products using material handling equipment when needed.
Residence within approximately 3.5 hours of Storm Lake, Iowa.

Responsibilities

Operate a Class A CDL tractor-trailer to deliver products to customers and company locations.
Transport products efficiently while following DOT regulations and company policies.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
Communicate delivery updates, delays, and transportation issues as needed.
Load, move, and unload product as required, including using pallet jacks.
Perform assigned backhauls and return freight pickups.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle appearance.
Follow DOT regulations and company safety, food safety, and biosecurity procedures.
Promptly report vehicle maintenance or repair needs.
Represent Furst-McNess professionally and provide strong customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
