About The Position

TA Services is seeking an OTR CDL Driver to safely transport steel products to customer locations and return scrap metal and crushed vehicles to the Midlothian facility. This is a full-time position that requires maintaining reliable attendance and arriving on time for all scheduled shifts. Drivers are expected to complete a minimum of three round trips per week. The role involves frequent driving and extended periods of sitting, regular loading and unloading at customer and company locations, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. It requires the operation of commercial tractor-trailers and interaction with customers, dispatch, and warehouse personnel, with a strong adherence to safety standards and DOT regulations.

Requirements

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
Must be at least 23 years of age.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and safe cargo securement practices.
Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
Successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment physical and drug screening in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 391 and 40.
No DUI or DWI convictions within the past three years.
No more than one at-fault accident within the past three years.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience with drop-and-hook deliveries preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely transport steel products to customer locations and return scrap metal and crushed vehicles to the Midlothian facility.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete light preventative maintenance as needed.
Secure loads, including tarping when required by customer specifications or load requirements.
Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, commercial motor vehicle laws, and company safety policies.
Maneuver trucks and trailers into loading and unloading positions, complete drop-and-hook deliveries, and report any vehicle defects, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
