About The Position

The OT Technician is responsible for maintaining and supporting the plant’s Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and MAE software systems. This role manages inventory data, coordinates remote access, executes data backups, maintains non-Bosch digital devices, and implements local IT security measures. The OT Technician operates under the technical direction of the Local OT Coordinator and plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and cybersecurity of manufacturing IT assets across the shopfloor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IT devices, industrial PCs, and information technology fundamentals.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, wireless).
  • Experience working with control cabinets, industrial electrical safety, and wiring practices.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Linux) for machine-level devices.
  • Knowledge of PLC communication and data interfaces (OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet).
  • Ability to perform IT security tasks, backups, and antivirus management for shopfloor devices.
  • Basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues between machines, servers, and networks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting.

  • Associates Degree in computer engineering, mechatronics or similar discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, review, and update inventory data for IT infrastructure and machinery software.
  • Maintain accurate asset records and document lifecycle changes.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with Bosch IT inventory standards.
  • Initiate and manage remote shopfloor access (RSA) requests in collaboration with the Local OT Coordinator.
  • Coordinate with global and local IT teams to maintain secure remote connections.
  • Ensure all access complies with corporate security protocols and documentation requirements.
  • Execute and verify data backups for IT and machinery systems (e.g., PLC programs).
  • Maintain backup schedules and storage documentation.
  • Support recovery testing to ensure data availability in case of system failure.
  • Conduct annual validation of the plant’s IT emergency plan.
  • Document recovery procedures and maintain readiness documentation.
  • Report completion and compliance results to the Local OT Coordinator.
  • Apply for IP addresses and configure network zones for machinery and infrastructure.
  • Manage network documentation and topology updates.
  • Coordinate infrastructure services with IT/OT and ensure compliance with Bosch standards.
  • Support the implementation of IT and OT security measures defined by CERT, Local OT, and VPR.
  • Apply local IT security concept updates and ensure execution of protective controls.
  • Maintain logs and evidence for audits and cybersecurity assessments.
  • Document wired and wireless networks used by production systems.
  • Ensure updates reflect actual configurations after any changes.
  • Support periodic reviews to validate connectivity integrity.
  • Install and configure IT devices and peripherals (excluding facility-related infrastructure).
  • Ensure correct hardware setup and software compatibility.
  • Support troubleshooting and replacement of defective devices.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for non-Bosch Digital devices.
  • Maintain logs and ensure compliance with maintenance intervals.
  • Report findings and propose improvement actions to reduce downtime.
  • Execute Layer Process Audits (LPA) for IT Security and document results.
  • Verify compliance of non-BD IT devices with the local security concept.
  • Perform periodic virus scans and follow up on identified vulnerabilities.
