Position Summary The OSP Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Outside Plant (OSP) construction and telecommunications infrastructure projects from initiation through completion. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements. The OSP Project Manager will coordinate field operations, subcontractors, vendors, customers, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution while maintaining strong communication and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications construction, OSP operations, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic construction practices, underground OSP construction, and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of permitting, utility coordination, and restoration processes preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with OSP Construction and Right of Way (ROW) projects.
  • OSHA safety knowledge and experience managing safe work environments.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and vendor management.
  • Knowledge of customer billing, budgeting, and cost tracking processes.

Responsibilities

  • Expert in both fiber optic network maintenance and emergency restoration processes.
  • Expert level understanding of communications cabling types
  • Must have extensive experience in maintaining fiber-optic deployments of outside plant networks.
  • Deep familiarity with the materials, manufacturers, and equipment related to communications cabling products, fiber optic cable and OSP splice enclosures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue-prints, splice engineer packages, and network design drawings. Extrapolate requirements to create take off materials including quotes, scope of work (SOW), method of procedure, etc.
  • Strong ability to accurately estimate labor effort and material requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of fiber optic testing techniques and requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of OSP construction projects including underground, and fiber optic installations.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with customers, municipalities, utility companies, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract requirements, company standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership and customers.
  • Review project scopes, work orders, permits, and construction documentation.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, production, quality, and compliance with project expectations.
  • Coordinate material procurement, equipment needs, and vendor support for project execution.
  • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and project-related documentation.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of production quantities, job costing, and project financials.
  • Conduct site visits and field audits to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager and Construction Managers to resolve operational challenges.
  • Support damage prevention initiatives and ensure proper restoration and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify project risks and develop solutions to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting within company systems.
  • Participate in customer meetings and operational planning discussions.
  • Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
