About The Position

The OSP Grant and Contract Specialist I assists researchers and staff in the review and processing of sponsored project proposals and budgets under general supervision. With guidance, ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local government regulations related to pre-award and/or post-award sponsored project activities. Provides oversight and review of grant and contract activities prepared by the researchers and their administrative teams and provides resolution on standard matters. Reviews and approves proposals with responsibility for timely submission to the sponsor. Serves as the liaison between the University and the sponsor. May provide instruction to college level staff on use of electronic research administration systems and regulatory requirements. Assists faculty and staff in analyzing sources of sponsored support, in preparation and processing of applications and proposals for sponsored funding, and in pre-award and non-financial post-award administration of contracts and grants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of grant and/or contract administration experience; OR master's degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Approximately two years of professional work experience.
  • Experience in the preparation and processing of grant and/or contract proposals and sponsored agreement administration is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget development.
  • Proficiency with database applications.
