About The Position

This position is for an Occupational Safety (OS) Technician, with opportunities for both Junior and Senior levels. The role involves supporting management and senior technicians in evaluating industrial settings and construction sites for potential physical or environmental hazards. The technician will ensure that appropriate controls are identified and implemented in compliance with all applicable procedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, DOE Orders, and local, state, and federal regulations. The role does not involve directing work activities or utilizing discretionary decision-making authority. Specific duties may include providing technical, administrative, or functional support, performing assigned tasks according to instructions, analyzing data, assisting in hazard analyses and report generation, and maintaining knowledge of safe work practices. The Senior level involves duties of general/routine to moderately complex nature, while the Junior level is an entry-level position with limited OS job functions.

Requirements

Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply.
Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment.
Ability to carry several instruments/equipment or tools while walking extensively.
Ability to perform medium to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 50 pounds of force frequently (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 1/3 body weight requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
Radiological training is required and will be provided.
Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work).
Drug Screen.
The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance, or HSPD12 Uncleared badge one year from hire date.
Background Check.
Any site required training.

Responsibilities

Assist and support Senior OS Technicians, Lead OS Technicians, supervision and management in ensuring that activities in industrial settings and/or project construction sites have been properly evaluated for potential exposure to physical or environmental hazards.
Ensure that appropriate controls are identified and implemented in compliance with all applicable procedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, DOE Orders and local, state and federal regulations.
Provides assigned technical, administrative or functional support to the management team.
Performs assigned tasks according to detailed instructions and established policies and procedures.
Analyze data, within a limited scope, and compare readings with pre-determined limits.
Assists in developing basic hazard analyses.
Performs basic calculations according to specific guidelines and formulas.
Assists in generating reports, charts and spreadsheets as needed.
Provides administrative and/or functional support to the OS team.
Perform duties of general/routine complexity in nature (Junior) or general/routine to moderately complex in nature (Senior).
Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner.
Actively participates in Safety Work Groups.
Participates in monitoring the company's safety standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; evaluates and interprets current regulations and assists in compliance (Senior).
Ensures controls required to mitigate identified hazards are implemented (Senior).
Assists others by providing OS support (Senior).
Maintains data in various data capture systems (Senior).
